Ben 10 Is Kid's Most Popular Super Hero
The children’s TV program Ben 10 has been voted the most popular in a toys & programs survey completed by Sky.The Cartoon Network has hit gold with this latest super hero which they can add to their long list of hits.
The survey was conducted among 5-10 year olds and there were among 3,000 children asked.The results established Ben 10 as both the current most popular and one of the all time greats of children's television. It picked up 35% of the votes from kids and a 65% viewing rate. Previous winners include Pokémon, Power Ranges, Baby Walker, Rug Rats, and Telly Tubbies. Although none of these ever claimed such a high percentage of the votes.
Ben 10 has some of the most amazing powers seen of any superhero, with the ability to metamorphosize into whatever object or creature he wants, using only he trusty watch. The program did cause some criticism recently due to the fact Ben is involved in violent fights every episodes with monsters and aliens. However, producers were quick to highlight the fact that all scenes were light-hearted and entertainment-focused.
Hector The Dragon is the BBC's newest creation and people are predicting it may rival Ben 10. This soon to be released cartoon features a young boy who turns into a dragon every full moon (similar to a werewolf). He's not a bad dragon however, he's a misunderstood one that takes on the role of town-protector from any other nasty creatures that come out on the same night. Hector, as you can imagine, has a lot of trouble keeping up with school work and explaining his odd behaviour to friends and family.
Off-screen sales are effected by a shows popularity as well. A programs popularity will directly effect the amount of merchandise sales that are made off the back of it. As merchandised childrens toys is a multi-million dollar industry, the competition will always be strong.
