what are/were your 3-year-old's favorite toys/books/games?
what are some toys that your 3-year-old really enjoyed and got great use out of?
i'm sick of having the toy box full of toys that half the toys in it just sit there unused so i want to see what other toddlers really enjoyed at this age before i buy...
here's what i'm thinking, so far:
a butterfly hatching kit--obviously we would do this together.
a "Cars" magnadoodle *its safer than crayons/markers!!* 
hi ho cherry o, board game--any other board games that are on a newly 3's level? we have memory already.
we live in an apartment so space is limited, or else i'd get him a little play set or a desk---but those will have to wait.
My son and his class did the butterfly hatching kit at daycare and he LOVED it! It's a great idea and I am planning on doing it when it gets warmer around here again in the Spring.
As for other games...there are ones out there (I have seen them in Toys R Us) that teach while you play. You roll a giant "die" with colors on every side and pick up a card off the floor that matches that color. The card will instruct you to do something...like "Wash your hands." or "find something blue." or "Pat your head." My son loves that game.
He also loved his Magnadoodle. He didn't really get the Chutes and Ladders game. Hi-Ho Cherryo was OK. The Candyland Castle game (matching shapes and colors) he loved. He also got a big kick out of plain old colorful flash cards that taught numbers, counting, colors and shapes!!
