How much land can $10,000 buy me?
I'm toying with the idea of investing money in land, but I only have $10,000.
Is this a good idea? Where can I buy cheap land? Preferably somewhere that has good development potential. Somebody suggested in buying land as an investment but it just seems that $10,000 will get me barely a sliver of land.
Any and all comments, advice, tips, etc are GREATLY appreciated!!
What are Tax Sales?
Buying raw land as your first investment is a bad idea. First, there is no positive cash flow. Second, there is no tax benefits. If you paid 10k straight up for land you cannot depreciate anything. Here in Texas we have many tax sales. But if you pay the lein they still have nearly2 years of "Right of Redemption." If the deadbeats do decide to pay, they pay a 25% penalty fee per year + original investment.
